Polyimide foams
Rigid foams offering acoustic and thermal protection
Polyimide foams are unusually lightweight, with an open-cell structure well-suited for thermal protection and acoustic insulation. Foam insulation adds minimal weight while providing safety and comfort in commercial aircraft, and high performance in military aircraft, spacecraft and naval vessels. Easily cut into shapes as well as formable under pressure and temperature, polyimide foams are considered non-toxic and do not off-gas or support microbial growth.
Current applications:
- Marine and aircraft insulation
When should I choose polyimide foams?
- Light weight
- Flame retardancy
Considerations:
- Dianhydrides must be matched to the corresponding diamines for optimal properties of the polyimide.
